The goal of therapy is to help people create lives that are both meaningful and satisfying.
Dr. Vijay’s research focuses on the interpersonal and social context of emotion regulation. Contemporary conceptualizations indicate that emotion regulation is a multi-systemic process which incorporates neurobiology, cognition, awareness and the social and interpersonal environment within which it occurs. Dr. Vijay is interested in how emotion regulation is impacted by interactions with another person or by the environment within which they live.
She studies the interpersonal and social context of emotion regulation in the the context of trauma and traumatic stress, burnout in health care professionals, and with respect to antiracism efforts and the effect of racism on BIPOC populations.
